POSITION SUMMARY:       

The Arizona Supreme Court Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) is leading a multi-year statewide initiative to standardize court security practices in Arizona.  This initiative includes certifying court security officers through a mandatory training program and providing specialized training and additional certification for armed officers.  The Education Services Division is seeking a Court Security Officer Training Specialist to lead this statewide training initiative.  

Under the general supervision of the Division Director, the Court Security Officer Training Specialist is responsible for the development, implementation and management of the statewide Court Security Officer training program which includes officer certification and firearms training. This position is responsible for the development of curriculum and training materials, staffing committees, and managing complex projects under minimal supervision and with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. A primary trainer who serves as the subject matter expert on court security officer training, this position also trains, certifies, and coordinates instructors.  In the course of regular duties, the position interacts closely with other divisions of the AOC, court security directors, court administrators, judicial branch policymakers, law enforcement, instructors, and court security officers. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

The position requires a Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in criminal justice, public administration, or a closely related field, and seven years active experience in court security, law enforcement, military security, probation or a closely related field.  The position must demonstrate knowledge and skill in firearms and defensive tactics training and hold firearms instructor certification from a recognized law enforcement, military, or specialized organization.  The position also requires knowledge of adult learning principles, and experience with organizing and managing multiple and complex projects, including demonstrated ability to initiate projects and follow through until completion.

Travel level: up to 50%
