POSITION SUMMARY:
Are you interested in joining an innovative team that serves in a critical role for the Arizona Judiciary? The Certification and Licensing Division is seeking an individual with demonstrated expertise in supervising staff at varying professional levels.
The Program Unit Manager will perform highly responsible management and administrative duties, concerning the regulation of Defensive Driving Schools and to facilitate improvements in all programs, develop amendments to court rules, the Arizona Code of Judicial Administration, policies and procedures applicable statutes and applicant test and related test materials.
This position is also responsible for managing the compliance reviews of certified Defensive Driving schools and the monitoring of certified Defensive Driving instructors, to determine compliance with administrative and court rules and applicable statutes. Ensuring application of standards to both traditional Defensive Driving schools and those offering services via alternative methods, including, for example, through the Internet. Responding to inquiries from certificate holders and licensees, the public, judicial officers, and court administration on the review process. Overseeing professional staff in the development and revision of policies and procedures for the Defensive Driving Program.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and several years of progressive management experience. Demonstrated expertise in effectively and appropriately supervising staff at varying professional levels; demonstrated ability to work independently and display good judgment in highly stressful situations with minimal supervision; strong research, tracking and critical analysis skills. This position also requires the ability to develop, understand and apply statutes, court rules, administrative orders and policies and procedures. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills in working collaboratively with others to analyze complex policy and procedural issues and draft and implement changes, and excellent oral and written communication skills, including report writing techniques
The preferred candidate will have a master’s degree in public administration, accounting, finance or a related field.
Travel level: up to 5%
