EMPLOYEE REFERRAL PROGRAM:

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for reviewing and verifying the financial aspects of a deceased individual’s estate(s) during the probate process, ensuring accurate accounting of assets and liabilities, preparing necessary financial reports for the court, and collaborating with legal professionals to facilitate smooth estate settlement by addressing any financial complexities that may arise. This position will perform initial and supplemental reviews of annual accountings to ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements, probate rules of practice, and court orders.

In addition, this position will prepare and submit accurate court reports with recommendations to adopt or reject annual accountings and work closely with probate attorneys, conservators, the public, and judges to clarify legal requirements related to estate accounting.

This position is located in Phoenix, but work will be assigned from guardianship/ conservatorship cases in Arizona’s Superior Courts across the state.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program qualified employer.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and at least three (3) years of professional accounting or auditing experience. Directly related experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

In addition, this position requires:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, including generally accepted accounting standards (GAAP) and auditing standards (GAAS).
  • Strong computer skills to efficiently manage financial data and reporting.
  • Investigative knowledge and skills to collect, analyze, and evaluate financial and legal data to interpret and communicate findings and uncover financial discrepancies and fraud.
  • High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail when handling financial transactions and documentation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex financial and legal data into terms that non-legal persons can understand.
  • Ability to provide highly responsible financial work performed independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work on multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively with other AOC divisions, judges, court staff and the public.
  • Ability to think critically and solve complex financial problems.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in decision-making.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to evaluate documents for accuracy and conformance to guidelines as set by law.

SELECTION PROCESS:
